‘Fake people playing God’: Yemi Alade slams Cool FM, Clout Africa

Grammy-nominated Nigerian music star, Yemi Alade, has asked popular radio station Cool FM and Clout Africa, to remove her entire music catalogue from their playlists.

The Johnny crooner, who earned a Grammy nomination in the Best African Music Performance category for her song, Tomorrow, took to X (formerly Twitter) on November 21, 2024, to express her grievances against the stations.

She began her post with  fiery statement, “My God, BIG PASS YOUR WHOLE station @cloutafrica @CoolFMNigeria, keep on forming gate keepers and taking my songs down. NA GOD BE MY LABEL AND MANAGEMENT, we go meet for front. Fake people wey dey feel like small gods.

Alade accused both platforms of holding a grudge against her for missing an event they organised last year.

She claimed the issue has persisted for nearly a year without resolution.

In another post, she said, “Take down my whole catalog from your stations @CoolFMNigeria and @cloutafrica …. God go still give me food. You’re beefing an artist for 1 full year, over your event. I didn’t go, too. I apologized and even called your oga him dey form oga no even reply my text.”

The singer didn’t mince words as she continued:
“Una dey carry person for mind …. for 1 year @cloutafrica and @CoolFMNigeria shameful, very shameless. Me, I no dey find trouble O. But @CoolFMNigeria and @cloutafrica with their Ogas that like operation ….. life is a marathon, not a sprint. Shine your eyes.”

In yet another post, she added:“Dem dey carry beef since last year December 2023 …… @cloutafrica and @CoolFMNigeria till December 2024 …… God keep us alive hold on that beef 🙏🏾 abeg. FAKE FAKE FAKE PEOPLE. BADBELLE IS ALLOWED.”

Reflecting on her career and the accomplishments she and her team have achieved, including global travels and meetings with world leaders.

She expressed disappointment over what she described as a lack of forgiveness from Cool FM and Clout Africa over a free show incident.

Alade’s posts have sparked conversations online, with fans and industry observers expressing mixed reactions to her claims.

Cool FM and Clout Africa are yet to respond to her allegations.
