Fondation Cartier To Feature Ron Mueck Exhibition In Paris
An upcoming exhibition at the Fondation Cartier in Paris will feature works by the renowned Australian artist Ron Mueck, running from June 8th to November 5th, 2023.
The exhibition will showcase both previously unseen sculptures and iconic pieces from Mueck’s career, including ‘Man in a Boat’ (2002), ‘Baby’ (2000), and ‘With a Girl’ (2006).
Curated by Hervé Chandès, the exhibition will also feature the monumental installation ‘Mass’ (2017), comprising one hundred oversized human skulls, presented for the first time outside of Australia. In addition to ‘Mass,’ the exhibition will showcase new works created especially for the occasion, including a menacing group of large dogs.
Mueck’s new approach focuses on the sculpting of form and presence, allowing him to broaden the subject matter and explore larger groups with a more dynamic tension or movement. The exhibition will also feature a cast-iron skull, ‘Dead Weight’ (2021), exhibited for the first time in France.
This will be Mueck’s third exhibition at the Fondation Cartier, and a short film documenting the creation of his two latest works will be shown on the gallery’s digital platforms.
The exhibition will next be presented at Triennale Milano from December 2023 to March 2024 in partnership with the Fondation Cartier and the Milan institution.
