As a sneakerhead, one thing you dread other than replica shoes would definitely be creased shoes.

However, even the most careful sneaker lover would admit that sneakers would definitely get creased if you use them for daily wear.

So while you invest in sneaker inserts, you probably should have some tips to remove these ugly creases from your sneakers ASAP.

Why Do Shoes Get Crease Lines?
All shoes- especially leather and suede sneakers or boots, get creased and wrinkled. This is because naturally, the feet bend when we walk, and footwear is designed to follow this movement. If shoes were very rigid, they’d be really uncomfortable to wear. The bending movement of the feet causes the material to scrunch, leading to wrinkles.

How To Deal with Sneaker Creases
There are various ways to make these lines go away; using a iron is the most popular way.

Let’s get into how: You’ll need a washcloth, cardboard inserts or paper, a bottle of water and finally a steam iron. The first step is stuffing your sneakers with cardboard inserts from the toe to the heel. It is important to make sure it is packed as tightly as possible, so the shoe maintains its shape. Then,

  • Moisten your washcloth and lay it over the wrinkle
  • Make sure there’s water in your steam iron; set it to medium heat.
  • Iron over the washcloth, allow the iron steam on the shoe; this warms up the leather and stretches it.
  • Make sure to check under the washcloth often to ensure your sneakers are not getting damaged.
  • When the crease lines are gone, unplug the iron, remove the washcloth, leave your sneakers to cool.
  •  Remove the cardboard insert after the sneakers are completely cool.
  •  You’re done!!

Buying good quality shoes that fit well is also very key in avoiding crease lines.
