Lack of money can make men ugly — Timaya
Inetimi Alfred Timaya Odon, better known as Timaya, has proudly displayed his physical transformation, claiming that financial constraints once obscured his good looks.
In an Instagram post shared on September 26, 2024, the Dem Mama crooner showcased photos of his transformation and growth over the years.
Timaya argued that his acclaimed handsome features were previously concealed by poverty. “I wasn’t ugly, I was only broke. Abi I go lie 4 u, tbt,” he wrote. The post also included laughing emojis.

The 44-year-old dancehall singer and songwriter rose to fame in 2005 with his hit single “Dem Mama.” He founded DM Records Limited, a label that has nurtured the careers of renowned artists like Patoranking and Runtown.
Throughout his career, Timaya has released numerous albums and hits, including “Dem Mama,” “True Story,” “I Can’t Kill Myself,” “De Rebirth,” “Gra Gra,” “Upgrade,” “Epiphany,” “Gladiator,” and “Bum Bum,” among others.
In 2017, Timaya performed in Nassau, where he headlined the first-ever Afro-Soca Concert. In 2018, he received his first Grammy nomination in the Best Reggae Album category. His music has solidified his status as a household name in the Nigerian music industry.

The Port Harcourt-born singer initially wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a banker, but after failing his first semester at UNIPORT, he decided that music would make him famous and bring financial success.
Today, he can be glad about his decision to pursue music.
