Music video review: Wizkid’s Kese (Dance)
Nigeria music sensation, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, better known as Wizkid, dropped the music video for Kese (Dance) on March 5, 2025, bringing his signature energy and star power. But here is our take on everything about the video.
Since dropping yesterday, fans went into frenzy, adorning the video with accolades and applauding Wizkid for dropping the video after much anticipation.
While the song delivers an infectious Afrobeat groove, hitting the chats and dominating it for weeks on steady, the video struggles to match its intensity.

The visuals move through three different settings—a dimly lit stage, a vibrant house party, and an art gallery—each aiming to showcase celebration and dance culture. However, the direction feels slightly outdated, resembling a music video from early 2015 rather than a fresh, modern take. The execution lacks the sleek, demure and high-production quality expected from our Star Boy.
Wizkid dominates the screen with his effortless swagger and bold fashion choices. His outfits radiate confidence, capturing the Baddest Boy era that fans love. The supporting cast, however, doesn’t bring the same energy. The choreographers wear red and black costumes that fail to complement the video’s mood. Instead of elevating the visuals, the styling feels uninspired.
The choreography leans too much into dramatisation, making the dance sequences appear stiff and overly rehearsed. Instead of the smooth, carefree groove that defines Wizkid’s best performances, the movements feel mechanical, stripping the video of its natural rhythm and the ‘dance’ we all expected.
The makeup is minimal, which aligns with Wizkid’s style and today’s natural beauty glow comeback, and that was a thing we loved in the video.
Despite these flaws, Kese (Dance) remains a strong song, one of our favourites in recent times.
Wizkid’s vocals, combined with the track’s addictive beat, ensure its dominance on playlists. The video did not match the hit track, but it wasn’t a failure.
The song deserves a solid 4/5, but the video earns a 3.5/5. lacking some sparks that could have made it truly unforgettable.
