UK-based Nigerian rapper/songwriter, Omoregie Osamudiamen, more popularly known as Reggie Rankin’ and Sabi Boy, has stepped out with his EP, titled ‘Diamond In The Rough’(D.I.T.R), to the delight of his fans and lovers of good music.
A native of Oredo local government area of Edo State, he describes D.I.T.R as beyond just music but a journey, a coming-of-age soundtrack shaped by movement, culture, and self-discovery.
Having built his artistry across continents, carrying influences from Nigeria to Ghana and into the UK’s evolving Afrofusion scene, he said he is set to redefine the music scene.
Beginning his musical journey at 16, freestyling on hostel steps in Nigeria, he has grown into an internationally performing artist whose sound blends reflective rap storytelling with the rhythm and warmth of Afrofusion.
His rise has been marked by growing international recognition. In Ghana, he received International Artiste of the Year recognition and performed alongside leading African acts including Jesse Jagz and R2Bees, helping establish his cross-regional presence early in his career.
Since relocating to the UK, he has continued to build momentum through live performance and industry recognition. He has opened shows for established artists including Mr Eazi, Sneakbo, Afro B, Kojo Funds, Iyanya and Paigey Cakey; while also sharing stages with artists such as Duncan Mighty, Slimcase and Mr Raw. His performances have spanned major UK live venues including Peckham Audio and Boxpark locations across London, alongside headline shows and a multi-city D.I.T.R Tour across Luton, Milton Keynes, Bedford, Northampton and London.
His music has received broadcast recognition with three premieres on BBC Radio 1Xtra, alongside radio support from community and independent stations including Diverse FM, Luton Urban Radio, and Netil Radio. He has also been nominated for Best Musician at the Bute Street Festival in Luton and for Best EP at the RBE Awards, further reflecting peer and industry acknowledgement within the UK music scene.
On D.I.T.R, he turns travel into metaphor. Each track represents a different European destination, not just geographically but emotionally, capturing moments of confidence, uncertainty, romance and growth.
From the playful energy of Bonjour, Mon Bébé to the vibrant escape of Santorini and the triumphant spirit of PAMPA, the project unfolds like pages from a personal diary written while chasing dreams far from home. The visuals for Santorini, filmed during Notting Hill Carnival, reflect the same multicultural energy that defines his sound.
Blending smooth melodies with sharp rap storytelling, Diamond in the Rough captures the feeling of becoming, learning who you are while navigating new cultures, new cities and new versions of yourself. The project celebrates freedom, cultural fusion, and resilience, positioning Reggie Rankin as part of a new generation of globally minded Afrofusion artists shaping the sound of contemporary diaspora music.
Diamond in the Rough isn’t just a title; it’s a statement of intent, the story of an artist transforming raw experience into refined artistry while steadily building international recognition.
