Winners’ List: Rema, D’banj, Mercy Chinwo shine at 2025 Trace Awards

Nigerian music stars Rema, Mercy Chinwo, and D’banj made the country proud as they dominated the winners’ list at the prestigious 2025 Trace Awards.
The award ceremony, which took place at the stunning Mora Resort in Zanzibar, Tanzania, on Wednesday, February 26, celebrated African and global music excellence.

Rema, the ‘Calm Down’ crooner, bagged two major awards—‘Album of the Year’ for Heis and ‘Best Male Artiste’. Ayra Starr, who has been making waves internationally, was honoured as ‘Best West African Artiste’.
Gospel artiste Mercy Chinwo clinched the ‘Best Gospel Artiste’ award for her powerful and inspirational music that has touched millions, while veteran singer D’banj received the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ in recognition of his contributions to the music industry over the years.
Behind the scenes, P.Priime was celebrated as the ‘Best Producer’ for his work on MMS, and Meji Alabi won ‘Best Music Video’ for directing Rema’s DND.
With Nigeria securing multiple wins, the night further proved the country’s stronghold in the global music industry.
