Nigerian rapper and activist, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has criticised President Bola Tinubu over his response to the latest killings in Benue State.
The rapper expressed his displeasure on Monday via his X page while reacting to a statement posted by the President on Sunday concerning the violent attacks in the Middle Belt.
In the statement, Tinubu condemned the bloodshed and called for calm, saying, “Enough is enough! I have directed the security agencies to act decisively, arrest perpetrators of these evil acts on all sides of the conflict, and prosecute them.”
But Falz, who is known for his vocal stance on national issues, described the statement as ‘routine’ one and that it doesbnot cut in.
Quoting the President’s post, he wrote: “You have consistently shown that you are incapable of performing the primary duty of securing lives and property of your citizens. This routine statement does not cut it.”
Falz’s comments add to the growing public outrage over the persistent violence in Benue, where over 100 people were reportedly killed in recent attacks, especially in Yelewata community of Guma Local Government Area.
This comes after singer 2Baba, rapper Odumodublvck, actor AY, Pastor Femi Lazarus, Bobrisky and MI Abaga also condemned the killings and demanded immediate government intervention.
Despite the presidency’s promise of action and vsisit to the state on Wednesday, many Nigerians, including celebrities, have continued to call for real and lasting solutions to the crisis that has plagued the region.
