Nigerian musician Tems has dropped her debut album, Born in the Wild. The album, which was released on June 7, 2024, marks a new chapter in her already blossoming career.


Born in the Wild is a musical feast with 18 tracks, including two interludes. Tems collaborated with Afrobeats star Asake and Grammy-winning American rapper J Cole. The album also features two of Tems’ hit singles Love Me JeJe and Me & U. Love Me JeJe was introduced to her fans during her performance at Coachella in April.

Both singles have made impressive strides on the charts. Love Me JeJe, a fresh take on Seyi Sodimu’s 1997 hit, climbed to No. 4 on U.S. Afrobeats Songs and No. 9 on Hot R&B Songs. Me & U reached No. 3 on U.S. Afrobeats Songs and No. 27 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay. It also bagged the outstanding international song at the 2024 NAACP Image Awards.

What’s next?

With the release of Born in the Wild, Tems is gearing up for a world tour that kicks off next week. The tour will have special guests Naomi Sharon and Lekan, who she will take with her across Europe, North America, Africa, and Asia. With performances in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney in November as well. The album Born in the Wild is now available for listening on all streaming platforms.


Tems has become a global superstar with a host of extraordinary achievements under her belt. She has won a number of international and local awards, some of which are a Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance for her song with Future, Wait For U.

Tems co-wrote the song, Lift Me Up, sung by Rihanna. The song went on to receive nominations at the Academy Awards and Golden Globes for Best Original Song. It also won the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media.
