1. Toothbrush
Keeping your toothbrush near the sink or in a holder can expose it to bacteria, especially when you flush the toilet. The toilet’s aerosol effect can spray germs into the air, landing on your toothbrush. It’s better to store it in a dry, open space or make sure the toilet lid is down before flushing.

2. Razors
It’s easy to leave your shaving razors in the bathroom, but this can cause them to rust or get dull because of the moisture. To keep them sharp and rust-free, store your razors in a sealed plastic bag away from the dampness.

3. Towels
Leaving towels in the bathroom when they’re not in use makes them prone to musty smells and bacteria buildup from all the moisture. It’s best to store them in a cupboard or any dry spot. If you don’t have a linen closet, make sure to wash your towels regularly.

4. Makeup and Brushes
The bathroom might seem like the perfect place to do your makeup because of the lighting, but it’s not a good idea to keep your makeup and brushes there. The humidity and steam can cause mould to grow and make your makeup expire faster. Plus, bacteria can settle on your brushes and end up on your face.

5. Medicine
Even though we call it a “medicine cabinet,” the bathroom isn’t the best place to store medications or supplements. The heat and humidity can cause them to lose effectiveness. Experts suggest keeping them in a cool, dry area instead.

The bathroom might seem like a convenient storage space, but it’s also full of germs. Keeping these items out of there will help you stay healthier.
