Senegalese-American singer and record producer Akon has released the music video to his latest single, “Wakonda”.

The song borrows its title from the fictional Sub-Saharan African country in the Academy Award-winning superhero film, Black Panther.

The music video features Ghanaian actor, Michael Blackson. Wankonda has a sexual undertone. In the video, Michael Blackson is seen dancing half-naked for a female populated audience. He swings his hips at his audience whenever the hook “she wants some Wakanda”

Wakonda is a cover of Joanna by UK artiste, Afro B.

In May 2019, Akon released the Latin-infused single “Get Money”, featuring Puerto Rican artist, Anuel AA which will serve as the lead single for his long-awaited fourth album now entitled, “El Negreeto”. The album is expected to be released on August 30 via his new label Akonik Label Group. This album will serve as his first latin album.

“El Negreeto” will be the first studio project Akon has released since his 2008 platinum-selling record Freedom.

Akon rose to prominence in 2004 following the release of “Locked Up”, the first single from his debut album, Trouble. He has released several hit albums that combine his R&B-style vocals with hip-hop beats, and he has collaborated with many other musicians, including Snoop Dogg, Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson.

He was listed by the Guinness Book of World Records as the #1 selling artist for master ringtones in the world.
