What I’d do as president for a day – Tiwa Savage
Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter, Tiwatope Savage, known by fans as Tiwa Savage, has shared what she’d prioritise if given a day to become Nigeria’s president.
According to Tiwa, she would focus on revising child rights policies and fixing Nigeria’s electricity challenges.
The 44-year-old singer expressed her thoughts during an interview with Bibi Raii on Beat FM on Tuesday, October 2024.
She pointed out that certain policies, particularly those concerning children’s rights, are long overdue for an update.

“There’s a lot of policies that need change and haven’t been reviewed, like child rights and t all that kind of stuff,” she said.
“Apart from that, if I could, I don’t know if it’s possible. I don’t know what the problem is, that we’ve had for years, but being able to provide constant electricity, I think is such a huge thing that might impact a lot.”
The Koroba singer singer also spoke passionately about her place in the Nigerian music scene, addressing the “Big Three” and her skills on the mic. “If we go talent for talent, mic for mic, I’m the big one – period. Take off the numbers”
Commenting on the lack of female representation in the industry, she noted, “Sometimes, I look at the charts, and there’s not a single female in the top 100. I’m not even talking about myself, just in general. I feel like the more you play male artist songs, the more influencers jump on, they are going to keep growing.”
Meanwhile, during a recent interview on the Big Friday Show, hosted by BBNaija alumnus Tacha, the 44-year-old singer spoke about her life mothering her son Jamil, she emphasised how important her mother is and how other people in her corner help her.
She explained, “It takes a village, raising my son as a single mum I always need my mum. I call on my mum, she’s very instrumental, and we have a nanny that has been with us since he was three months old, and he’s nine now, so she has been with us for nine years.”
