Wunmi Aloba, the widow of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has said that another lawyer—a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) has withdrawn from the ongoing DNA case involving her son, Liam.

In a post shared on her Instagram story on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, Wunmi expressed frustration over the repeated change of legal representatives by her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, who has continued to demand a DNA test to confirm the paternity of her son.

She wrote:
“Another lawyer, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has withdrawn from the DNA case. To my father-in-law, you can get as many lawyers as you want from anywhere in the world; one thing that’s certain is that you can’t manipulate this DNA. I’m sorry.”

In a follow-up post, she criticised the constant change of lawyers by her late husband’s father and insisted that her side has cooperated fully with the legal process since the case began.

“Another lawyer gone. A whole SAN,” she wrote. “When people are confident in truth, they don’t run. They don’t hide. They don’t switch lawyers every month. They don’t ignore court calls. We have cooperated from day one. We have never opposed a DNA test. We showed up. We waited. We followed the law.”

Wunmi further alleged that those calling for the DNA test are the ones delaying the process, maintaining that neither the court nor science can be manipulated.

“The only people delaying this process are the same people who requested it. No one can manipulate the court, and no one can manipulate science. Let the truth speak—for Liam, for Mohbad, and for justice. Again. November 11 is around the corner. We will be there,” she added.

The ongoing DNA saga stems from a long standing disagreement between Wunmi and her father-in-law, who has repeatedly demanded that a test be conducted to prove that Liam is indeed Mohbad’s biological son.

While Mr. Aloba has said he only seeks clarity for the family’s peace of mind, critics argue that his public insistence and online commentary have worsened the emotional strain on Wunmi and her child.

Since Mohbad’s death in September 2023, his family has been entangled in several controversies, from the investigation into his death to the battle over his properties, and now, the unresolved DNA matter.

Wunmi has continued to maintain that she has nothing to hide and that she has always been open to the test, provided it follows due legal process and is conducted in a credible, transparent manner.
