Wedding Fever And Other Stories That Made Our Week

The best way to end the year is to anticipate what’s to come in the new year, like the Royal wedding and the fact that one of TV’s best shows will be losing a star. Other than that, our hearts go out to our brothers and sisters in Libya as well as our praise to the men that did us proud at award ceremonies. These are the stories that made our week….

Another Royal wedding

Drumroll, please! There will be another royal wedding and it is set to happen in May 2018. Prince Harry will be getting married to the Suits star Meghan Markle at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. The Royal family will be paying for the wedding as well and Markle is set to be baptised and become a British citizen. That’s not the only thing Marke will be doing to become part of the Royal family, she’s also going to stop acting. Talk about the life of a princess!

And the winners are…

The 22nd MOBO Awards held this week at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, UK and saw some of our favourite Nigerian artists win big. Davido won in the category of Best African Act as well as giving a stellar performance. Our very own star boy, Wizkid, won the Best International Act, beating top artists like Drake, SZA, Cardi B, JAY-Z, Kendrick Lamar. Also bagging an award for the Best Male act was Ghanaian UK artist Stormzy.

Pray for Libya

The auction of African migrants as slaves in Libya has caused an outrage from social media as well as countries. It is quite saddening to know that in 2017, black people are still being sold into slavery. This week, 239 Nigerians were deported from Libya in their attempt to gain entry into Europe. This news not related to the slave auction means 239 Nigerians were not sold as slaves. As much have been sold and yet to be recovered, we hope that the awareness of this cause saves more lives.

Post-wedding fever

After giving the wedding of the year, the Wellingtons found a way to still make social media buzz. Following a screengrab from a Snapchat video posted by Banky during their honeymoon in South Africa. The image was of a naked Adesua (just her back view) changing. Social media, as usual, went livid as some blamed Banky for not looking at the video before posting while some admired the couple’s decision to not address the video and image.

The tale of the whistleblower

Remember the anonymous whistle-blower who led the Federal Government to a building dripping with cash that amounted to N1 billion. Well, there have been many controversies surrounding the whistleblower and the five percent which was promised. From the news that the EFCC has adviced against giving one person such a huge sum of money to the issue of a fake and real whistleblower. It seems that this tale will enter into the new year and just maybe, that will be the end of the tale of the whistleblower.
