The Weeknd | Dawn
Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, known by his stage name The Weeknd, has officially made a change to his online presence by updating his social media accounts to display his real name.
In an interview with W Magazine, Tesfaye expressed his intention to “kill The Weeknd” as part of a personal cathartic journey.
While he plans to continue making music, he desires to shed his artistic persona and be reborn as himself, possibly releasing his upcoming album as The Weeknd’s swansong.
Notably, The Weeknd recently achieved significant success, earning two Guinness World Records for having the highest number of monthly listeners on Spotify and being the first artist to reach 100 million monthly listeners.
Additionally, his track “Die for You” reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, marking his seventh chart-topping hit.
