The Weeknd has said he is considering changing his stage name to ‘ABEL’.
The Can’t Feel My Face crooner made this known in a series of conversational Tweets with fans, referring to Kanye being known as ‘Ye’.
‘‘You guys are hilarious. I feel like I should change my stage name to ABEL at this point lol ‘ABEL formally known as The Weeknd’ in the future.’’

The singer whose real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye noted that this new name would not have the last name.
The 32-year-old performer however expressed uncertainty about the name change as he wrote ‘‘I don’t know it seems like a lot.’’
In reaction to his fans’ comment about the name change, he wrote: ‘Formerly ***** see this is what I’m talking about @Twitter.’
The Weeknd has been open about this as he recently spoke about this in an interview where he said there was a broad line between his personal and public life he said,
‘‘The lines were blurry at the beginning. And as my career developed – as I developed as a man – it’s become very clear that Abel is someone I go home to every night. And The Weeknd is someone I go to work as’’.
The Weeknd won the Best Melodic Rap Performance at the 64th annual Grammy Awards ceremony which took place on Sunday, even though he was among the artists who publicly boycotted the Recording Academy in 2021. He is known to have expressed his take on his previous wins saying that his 3 Grammys “mean nothing to me”.
The ‘Blinding Lights’ singer earned his Grammy for West’s track Hurricane, featuring Lil Baby.
