Afrobeats star Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has ramped up promotion for his upcoming album Morayo by actively reposting responses on X (formerly Twitter).

His online presence has become even more electric since reigniting his long-standing feud with fellow Nigerian artist, Davido, a spat that continues to captivate fans.

On Tuesday, the Grammy Award-winner fired a fresh round of shots at the DMW boss, Davido, in what has become the talk of social media.

The timing couldn’t have been more controversial, coinciding with Davido teasing a snippet of his first single for 2024, while Wizkid had planned to release the first track from Morayo on the same day.

Wizkid took to X, posting, “P***y boys dropping mid again. Una don tire! Make una go rest small! 🦅.” While he didn’t directly name Davido, fans were quick to assume the jab was aimed at him.

It wasn’t long before Davido’s supporters clapped back, with one writing: “So if you no beef @davido your song won’t sell??” Wizkid wasted no time, responding: “I don’t beef wack niggas! We all know he’s wack! No talent! 🦅.”
The banter continued, as Wizkid dismissed Davido’s music catalogue as “trash,” boasting, “80 trash! We got 80 albums for any song y’all drop! P***y boys! ❤️🦅.”

One X user chimed in, joking, “Wizkid day try to promote him album again 😂,” to which Wizkid responded sharply, “Abeg when e drop, make u and ur papa no listen to my shit. Whenever my music play off your ear!”

Another fan, @BeninPikeen, added some humour, posting: “@wizkidayo abeg easy, I just dey wonder how Davido go dey feel as e dey read all your tweet. 😂😂😩🤧🤧.” Wizkid’s reply? “E no go better for Davido and him feelings! ❤️🦅.”
In a rant that left social media buzzing, Wizkid further escalated his attack, writing, “First off, you’re not as fly as me, can’t sing or make music like me, u can’t dress, u don’t make more money than me, u don’t even got hoes like me… U’re cheap, u pull up for less than we do! Now fuck off u spoilt rich child!”

He didn’t stop there, taking shots at Davido’s status, claiming, “The only time u’re 001 is when u’re in your house. U’re not 001 of nothing but Instagram followers!”

This latest exchange has reignited the simmering tensions between the two stars, a rivalry that has endured for years, often fuelling fan excitement and drama. With both artistes gearing up for new releases, fans are left wondering whether this is all part of a savvy promotional strategy or simply a bitter feud spilling over online.

Interestingly, Davido, who is usually quick to respond, has remained silent this time, leaving his fans speculating about his next move.

This isn’t the first time the pair have clashed publicly. Earlier this year, in May, Wizkid took jabs at both Davido and producer Don Jazzy, referring to Don Jazzy as an “influencer” and mocking an old video of Davido pleading on his knees.

While feuds like this can undoubtedly draw attention and boost streaming numbers, they can also divide fans who prefer a more positive atmosphere in the Afrobeats scene.

Yet, controversial artist Portable has a different take. He recently chimed in, accusing Wizkid and Davido of using their rivalry to stay relevant. On Instagram, Portable wrote, “Don’t use your brother to shine, shine yourself. Una songs no dey market again, na fight una dey use do promotion… Portable is bigger than them.”

As the countdown to Morayo continues, all eyes remain on the charts and social media to see how this rivalry plays out.
