Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Friday confirmed 386 new COVID-19 cases, with Lagos having nearly half of the entire infections.

NCDC announced that 176 new cases were confirmed in Lagos while 65 new cases were from Kano State.

In Katsina State 31 new cases were confirmed while 20 were confirmed in Abuja. Borno had 17 new cases while 15 were confirmed in Bauchi state.

NCDC announced 14 in Nasarawa state and 13 in Ogun State. Plateau also recorded 10 new cases of the virus.

Oyo, Sokoto and Rivers also recorded four new cases each while Kaduna State confirmed three new cases.

Edo, Ondo and Ebonyi recorded two new cases and Enugu, Imo, Gombe and Osun had one new case each.

A total of 3912 cases have now been recorded in 34 states and the federal capital territory (FCT).

The number of fatalities increased from 107 to 117, while recoveries increased from 601 to 679.

The increase in the number of cases over the past few weeks has been attributed to increased testing.

While there have been concerns about the number of tests carried out, Chikwe Ihekweazu, said that the figures released as number of tests done does not fully reflect the work that goes on in the laboratories.
