Chief Judge (CJ) of Katsina State, Justice Musa Abubakar, has granted bail to 126 inmates serving various jail terms at Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) centres in the state.

A statement by the NCoS Public Relations Officer (PRO) in the state, Ibrahim Wada Ibrahim, added that the CJ also sentenced three other inmates to community service.
The Guardian gathered that inmates that benefited from the gesture included the aged, those with serious health challenges and those who displayed good character and industry while in custody.
“Justice Abubakar commended the hard work and dedication of officers and men of Katsina NCoS and urged them to keep up the good work,” the PRO stated.
The Controller of Corrections, Katsina State, Muhammad Haruna, commended the CJ for the exercise, adding that decongesting the custodial facilities will enable the service perform its statutory duties of reforming, rehabilitating and reintegrating the inmates into the society as law-abiding citizens.
