14 teams for Eko Akete basketball

ABOUT 14 teams have confirmed their participation in the maiden edition of Eko Akete Six-Aside Basketball jamz scheduled for tomorrow at the Campus Square Sports Complex. Project co-ordinator of the one day event aimed at celebrating the Yuletide and identifying young talent for the game, Phemmy Adetula, said the teams were drawn from all the districts in the state, adding that it was a way of catching them young now that preparation for the next National Sports Festival was fast approaching.

The event is being powered by the Lagos State Government, Lagos Island and Lagos Island East local councils, and according to Adetula, it will attract top shots in the game from all over the country and the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF).

He said the overall winner would take home N100,000, second position N75,000 and third, N50,000 just as consolation prices have been made available for outstanding players. He further enjoined basketball coaches in the state to attend the programme as it would afford them the opportunity of picking players for the state and various clubsides.
