2,000 graduates from Lagos technical colleges

Lagos State has announced the graduation of 2,000 technical college students from five different technical colleges within the state for the year 2024.

This was disclosed by Lagos State Governor Sanwo-Olu, who spoke at the 2024 graduation ceremony held by the Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB) at the Blu Roof, LTV Compound, Agidingbi, Ikeja, on Monday.

Sanwo-Olu urged the new graduates to utilise their skills towards building a prosperous society, highlighting the importance of technical and vocational training in Lagos.

“Technical and vocational education is vital as it equips our youth with practical skills essential for a dynamic economy. Our graduates have the tools to make a difference in various fields such as engineering, construction, ICT, business, and the creative arts,” he said.

Meanwhile, LASTVEB Executive Secretary, Ms. Moronke Azeez, described the event as a crucial step toward self-reliance and economic sustainability.

The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Tolani Alli-Balogun, also addressed the graduates, encouraging them to aim high in their careers and contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth.

He noted that Governor Sanwo-Olu has facilitated initiatives through the Ministries of Women Affairs and Wealth Creation to empower graduates further.

Sanwo-Olu concluded the event by reaffirming the state’s dedication to building a self-reliant society through quality technical education.

“Together, we are shaping a future where technical education is celebrated and valued as a cornerstone of sustainable development,” he said.
