Kano State Government has imposed a curfew across the state to prevent a breakdown of law and order.

Commissioner for information and internal affairs, Malam Muhammad Garba, in a statement in the early hours of Monday, said the decision become pertinent to avoid a breakdown of law and order following tensions generated from the collation of results of the governorship and state Assembly elections.

Garba alleged that some hoodlums are already mounting tension to cause chaos in the already tense situation.

The commissioner called on people in the state to remain indoors as security agents would not spare anyone or group bent on causing trouble.

Meanwhile, the candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) Abbas Kabiru Yusuf has been declared the winner of the gubernatorial election in Kano.

Yusuf was declared the winner after defeating his closest rival and candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna.

Declaring Yusuf winner, the returning officer of the governorship poll Professor Ahmed Doko Ibrahim said Yusuf of the NNPP won with 1,019,602 to beat Gawuna of APC who polled 890,705.
