The opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) says it would not be distracted by the antics of its adversaries to abort its ongoing effort the sweep various elective seats in the 2023 poll

ADC’s National Director of Communications and Programs, Barr. Ifenla Oligbinde made this known while faulting the processes that led to the emergence of Sen Patricia Akwashiki as the chairman caretaker committee of the party.

A section of the National Executive Committee (NEC) loyal to the presidential candidate of the party Mr Dumebi Kachikwu had earlier in the day inaugurated Akwashiki, alongside six others to
o steer the affairs of the Party ahead of the 2023 poll.

This is coming against the backdrop of the purported suspension of Kachikwu by another section of the party NEC in full support of the continuous stay of Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu as Chairman of the party till after the 2023 poll.

Other members of the caretaker committee members comprise Kenneth Odion – Secretary, Lady Anglia Johnson ” Member, Prof. Kabiru Dangogo, Manzo Ibrahim, Hon. Lesanmi Omolayo, Hon. Kingsley Temitope Ogga and Emma Dibia.

But Oligbinde dismissed the development with a wave of the hand arguing that the Akwashiki-led caretaker was constituted in breach of the law.

She noted: “There is really much to say and little to react on with this supposed hilarious press release. To see mere state chairmen camouflaging as “Chairman (for NEC) and Secretary” reeks of sheer desperation and grasping at straws.

“For now, the INEC recognized National Executive Council and National Working Committee of our great party, ADC is focusing on bridging the gap these mischievous fellows began. We won’t be distracted from our goals for 2023.”
