Governor Dauda Lawal begins statewide engagement with PDP stakeholders in Zamfara State

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has commenced a statewide engagement with stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

A statement issued by the Governor’s spokesman, Sulaiman Bala Idris, said the stakeholder engagement is a regular gathering aimed at strategizing and discussing issues concerning the party and the state as a whole.

According to Idris, the meetings commenced on Tuesday at the Rescue Mission Hall, Government House, Gusau, the state capital.

He noted that the first series of meetings began with PDP stakeholders from Gummi and Maru Local Government Areas of the state.

“The engagement provides a platform where the Governor discusses important political issues impacting the party and the State,” Idris said.

“In the coming weeks, Governor Lawal will host PDP stakeholders from all 14 local government areas of Zamfara State.

“During the meeting, Governor Lawal listens to stakeholders’ concerns, advice, and critical evaluation of the situation in their respective communities.

“Such stakeholder engagement indicates that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains a strong and influential political force across the State.”

Meanwhile, the Zamfara State Executive Council (EXCO), chaired by Lawal has approved the sum of N3.6 billion for the upgrading and re-equipping of the Zamfara State AM Radio Station.

The approval was granted at the State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House in Gusau, as part of the administration’s commitment to revitalising state-owned media institutions and strengthening effective information dissemination to the public.

The State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Muhammad Mahmud Dantawasa, disclosed this while briefing journalists after the council meeting.

He explained that the project, which involves the supply and installation of modern broadcasting equipment, was awarded to ECALPEMOS Technologies, a firm described as having proven expertise in broadcast technology.

According to him, the project is expected to be completed within 90 days, during which the contractor will supply and install equipment aimed at enhancing the operational capacity, signal coverage and overall broadcast quality of the AM radio station.

Dantawasa said the council noted that the upgrade would significantly improve public access to timely, accurate and reliable information, particularly for rural communities, while also supporting government policies, public enlightenment and socio-economic development across the state.

He added that Governor Lawal reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to reposition the media as a critical partner in governance, transparency and citizens’ engagement, assuring that all approved projects would be executed in line with due process and global best practices.
