The Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has formally declared her intention to seek re-election for a second term in the 2027 general elections, urging members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to close ranks and prioritise unity.

The declaration came during the Kogi Central PDP Stakeholders’ Meeting, which drew party leaders, supporters and key actors from across the five local government areas of the senatorial district.

Addressing the gathering, the lawmaker said her decision followed months of consultations and sustained appeals from constituents and party faithful.

“After due consultations and encouragement from my husband, I have accepted your calls to re-contest for a second term as your senator,” she said to loud applause.

Her announcement caps a wave of endorsements from grassroots leaders and party supporters that has gathered momentum in recent months, signalling strong backing for her return bid.

Natasha used the occasion to stress the importance of reconciliation within the party, warning that internal divisions could undermine future electoral prospects.

“This is the time to bring everyone back home. We must reconcile with those who may have had one issue or another, for the betterment of our party and the success of our elections ahead,” she said.

In his remarks, the PDP Kogi Central Zonal Chairman, Anthony Akuvada, commended the senator’s performance, describing her as a transformative leader whose impact has been felt across the district.

According to him, her tenure has been marked by visible interventions in infrastructure, education and human capital development, as well as consistent engagement with constituents.

“She has redefined representation in Kogi Central. Her accessibility and commitment to the people have strengthened the bond between leadership and the grassroots,” he said.

Natasha’s first term in the Senate has been characterised by advocacy on development issues, alongside programmes targeted at empowering women and youths in the district.

She expressed appreciation to her husband, High Chief Emmanuel Oritsejolomi Otuoze Uduaghan, for his support throughout her political journey, describing him as a pillar of strength.
