Members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State on Tuesday affirmed the candidacy of Prof. Sandy Onor as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The affirmation took place in Ibadan during a gathering of party leaders and members, where Onor’s candidacy received overwhelming endorsement through a voice vote conducted by the state chapter of the party.
The Oyo State Chairman of the PDP, Prof. Rahman Akinoso, who presided over the exercise, called for the voice vote, which was unanimously adopted by party faithful present at the event.
Speaking shortly after the affirmation, the PDP Returning Officer for the exercise in Oyo State and former Deputy Governor of the state, Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi, expressed appreciation to party members and leaders for their support and commitment to the party.
Gbolarumi described Onor as a credible and experienced leader capable of making the country great, expressing confidence that the PDP standard-bearer would emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election.
According to him, the PDP remains committed to policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians and addressing the socio-economic challenges confronting the country.
He called on Nigerians to rally behind the party, insisting that the PDP possesses the vision and capacity to deliver inclusive development and responsive governance.
“The presidential candidate is poised for victory in the 2027 general elections. We appreciate members and leaders of the party for their commitment and support,” he said.
Gbolarumi stated that the party’s welfare-driven agenda would promote national development, economic recovery and improved living conditions for citizens.
The PDP State Chairman, Prof. Rahman Akinoso, lauded the members for their support and faithfulness to the party.
