The management of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) on Wednesday, disclosed that over 3, 000 students of the institution have benefited from the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
FUNAAB’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Olushola Babatunde Kehinde, made the disclosure while addressing journalists in Abeokuta, during a press conference held to herald the institution’s 32nd Convocation Ceremony.
This is as the VC disclosed that a total of 120 out of a total of 3,567 will be graduating with First Class Degree at the institution’s 32nd Convocation Ceremony slated for next Saturday the 25th January, 2025.

Kehinde revealed that NELFUND remitted N133. 995 million first batch payment to 1,300 FUNAAB students for the year 2024 academic session, while the institution was still awaiting payment for an additional total of 1,638 students as second batch to sum it up to a total of 3,000 students.
The FUNAAB VC’s statement is coming barely 72 hours after the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) decried the low enrollment of the Southern students in NELFUND.
“We encourage them, gave them information and we are expecting more even for this session. So, we can say that in FUNAAB, NELFUND is working and we are happy about that,” the VC said.
