No fewer than 32,000 applicants have applied for the available 1,000 secondary school teaching jobs at the Ondo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM).
TESCOM said that following the high number of applicants that showed interest for the teaching jobs, an online examination would be conducted for all applicants seeking employment as teachers.

According to a statement by Head of Press and Public Relations Unit of the Commission, Goodluck Akinyomi, the 10-minute online recruitment examination would commence by 9.00 a.m. on Thursday and Friday.

Akinyomi said that the examination would involve all applicants, and in the spirit of inclusiveness, all physically-challenged applicants are also to take the online recruitment examination on the same date and time, except the applicants that are visually-impaired, who would take theirs at a later date.

Also, the Administrative Secretary of the Commission, Morayo Bayo-Philip, said the appointment of teachers into public secondary schools of the state would be based on merit, as no one would be employed through the ‘back-door’.

Bayo-Philip said the commission would not compromise the academic standard of the state’s secondary education, as the education of the children is paramount.

She said that the Commission had not relented in ensuring that highly-qualified applicants with proven integrity are engaged in the teaching service, adding that the state expects the applicants to score at least 70 per cent in the examination.

The Administrative Secretary, therefore, urged the applicants to log on to the portal using their individual user name and password with which they had registered for the online recruitment examination.
