Over 350 teachers drawn from Edo and Delta states, at the weekend, benefited from the 4th edition of Seplat Joint Venture Teachers Empowerment Programme.

Director of External Affairs and Sustainability, Seplat Energy, Chioma Afe, said the five-day training programme was to improve self-development and re-orientation of teachers, influencing them on how they impact the children.

She charged participants to make use of the opportunity provided to improve on themselves.

She said: “We are not just looking at education from the angle of teaching the children. We are looking at the entire ecosystem of education. We are looking at the children, teachers, infrastructure and more. We actually want to improve the entire ecosystem of education.’’

“This programme started when the country was on lockdown during COVID 19. The organisation thought outside the box on how to improve the host communities. That’s how we came up with this in addition to other corporate social responsibilities. I tell you, it has really achieved its purpose.”

She stressed the need for creative teaching aside technical and vocational skills, calling on teachers to employ the collaborative rather than instructive form of teaching to be effective advocates of their profession.
