Gunmen shot FIRS director dead
A 40-year-old herb seller has been arrested for allegedly killing a septuagenarian, his creditor, Mr Rufus Olayinwola.
The suspect confessed that he got into an argument with the deceased who loaned him money and pushed him to his death.
While parading the suspects, yesterday at the Command’s headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, spokesperson for the Command, Adewale Osifeso, said the suspect also stole the vehicle used as collateral for the loan after killing the deceased.

He said the incident happened on June 19 at about 10:45a.m. in Ibadan, adding that the stolen Lexus 300 car and pepper spray were recovered from the suspect.
Speaking to newsmen, the suspect said: “This is the sixth vehicle I used as loan collateral with the man, who ended up selling it when I was unable to pay the loan and the balance was given to me.
“I did not want to lose this last vehicle and I approached him to return part of the money he loaned to me, but the man refused to collect the money.
“This resulted in an argument between me and the man and I pushed him to the wall, which led to his death and I took the car away.”
MEANWHILE, gunmen have shot dead a Director with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Alhaji Mohammadu Kudu Lawal in Niger State.
The Guardian gathered that Lawal was shot dead on his way to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Sunday, August 7, 2022.
The FIRS Director was shot dead while another staff of FIRS, who was travelling with him sustained injuries as a result of the attack that happened in Saminaka village of Lapai Local Council of Niger State.
It was gathered that Lawal, an indigene of Lafiagi in Kwara State, ran into the unknown gunmen. who rained bullets on theHilux vehicle he was travelling in.
FIRS authorities have confirmed the incident.
