kidnappersTHE gunmen, who last month abducted the parish pastor of New Anointing Chapel of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Yenagoa, Mark Christmas and two church members, have demanded N200, 000 as cost for phone calls and N30 million ransom for their freedom.

The trio were captured at the cleric’s hometown in Biseingbene community of Ekeremor Local Council of Bayelsa State.

According to his wife, Evelyn, the pastor was lured to the community under the pretext of attending an emergency meeting with his kinsmen.

She said the abduction took place on October 18.

“You know we reside in Yenagoa. So, on that faithful day, my husband was invited to the community, Biseingbene, for a meeting by the abductors.

“When he got to the community, he found out that the invitation for a meeting was false and devilish plan to kidnap him. My husband has spent over two weeks in their hands,” Evelyn wailed.

“It is over two weeks and I have not hear or see my husband, but some of our family members, who live in the village told me that they spoke with them, ” she stated.

“I planned to contact the police but the family members said that I should not involve the police to avoid incurring more danger. The reason is that my husband might be killed by the hoodlums if the police are involved in the matter.

“I am worried and I am praying that my husband will comeback alive,” Evelyn added.

Contacted, the spokesman for the state Police Command, Asinim Butswat, said the matter had been lodged with the command.
