The Abia Government said it is not recruiting workers at the moment while also warning the public to beware of fake job adverts alleged to be from the state’s Civil Service Commission.

Ferdinand Ekeoma who is the Special Adviser to the Abia state Governor, Alex Otti on Media and Publicity, issued this warning in a statement.

“The attention of Abia State Government has been drawn to a FAKE advertisement being circulated on different social media platforms purporting to emanate from the Abia State Civil Service Commision with a claim that there’s an ongoing recruitment exercise into the Abia State Civil Service,” Ekeoma wrote on Facebook.

“The government is constrained to state as follows: The advert did not emanate from Abia State government, therefore it’s FAKE and should be disregarded.”

Ekeoma said there could not have been any recruitment in Abia state when there is an ongoing verification exercise and reforms geared towards sanitising the Civil Service with a view to getting it rejigged in order to help drive the developmental policies and programmes of the present government.

He added that any recruitment exercise into the Civil Service shall be approved by the Abia Governor and announced on the state-owned radio station, the BCA.

According to him, it would also be announced on the other radio stations and on the pages of major newspapers through the Civil Service Commision.

Ekeoma called on anyone with useful information that could lead to the arrest and prosecution of the fraudsters behind the advert to contact the office of the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Caleb Ajagba or report to the nearest Police Station.
