
Ikpeazu announced the measure at the weekend during the End-GBV Summit on strengthening evidence and referral pathways for GBV in the state, organised by his wife, Dr. Nkechi Ikpeazu, in Umuahia, the state capital.
He commended the Nigeria Academy of Science and Ford Foundation for their intervention and collaboration with his wife for the reduction of gender-based violence in society.
Ikpeazu, who spoke through the state Attorney General and Justice Commissioner, Mr. Uche Ihediwa, urged members of the public not to cover any gender-based violence matter/incident and directed his wife to make available her established structures/ platforms used in the fight against the GBV to her successor in 2023 to ensure sustainability.
Mrs Ikpeazu, who said that the End-GBV Summit re- invigorated commitment and zeal to end gender-based violence in the homes, schools, workplaces, business outfits, and faith-based organisations, among others, added that a lot of people have been trained in this regard. She urged them to work in synergy with other stakeholders to check GBV in society.
