ACT devt grant for Africa opens

Aspire Coronation Trust (ACT) Foundation is calling for applications from non-profit organisations and social enterprises in Africa for its 2021 Grant Cycle.

Aspire Coronation Trust (ACT) Foundation is calling for applications from non-profit organisations and social enterprises in Africa for its 2021 Grant Cycle.  The grant opens on Tuesday, November 9, 2020 and closes on Monday, November 30, 2020.  

Since 2016, ACT Foundation has worked to provide innovative solutions to social, economic and environmental challenges and build sustainable communities by supporting local, national and regional non-profit organisations working to address challenges and associated vulnerabilities across Africa. Since the first grant cycle in 2017, a total of 60 organisations have benefited from funding and partnership opportunities to contribute immensely to the socio-economic development of the continent.  

Past grantees include Enactus Nigeria, Project Pink Blue, Sebeccly Cancer Care, CSR-In-Action, Pan-Atlantic University Sustainability Center (LBS), LEAP Africa, Fate Foundation, WIMBIZ, Live Your Dreams Africa, Nigerian Conservative Foundation, Postpartum Support Network, Westfield Development Initiative (WDI), JCI Nigeria, MamaMoni, Life Bank Technology and the like.

Thematic areas are Health: malaria, maternal and child health, and prevalent cancer cases such as breast cancer, cervical and prostate cancer; Entrepreneurship: vocational education, skills acquisition, financial literacy and inclusion; Environment: waste management, sustainable water solutions and sanitation and Leadership: youth leadership development and thought leadership.

To participate, applicants must be a not-for-profit organisation registered under the relevant laws of the country where it is implementing; the organisation must be a registered entity for not less than two years; be directly responsible for the preparation and management of any proposed project and not acting as an intermediary. After the application phase, an initial screening will be conducted to ascertain eligibility after which potential organisations will be required to provide additional documents to support their application. More information on how to participate can be found on the foundation’s social media handles.
