THE African Bar Association (AFBA) has commended the Burkina Faso military for reversing the recent forceful take over of the government by elements of the Presidential Guards.
 
It also praised the stand of leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) for rejecting the coup and ensuring the restoration of constitutional democracy in the country.
   
A statement by the media director of AFBA, Mr. Samuel Abasilim, described the aborted coup as “highly irresponsible and unacceptable.”
 
The association called on lawyers in Burkina Faso to reject the coup, which came on the heels of the October 11 National Election in the West African nation.
