An official says Burundi's president has fired his defense minister and two other Cabinet ministers after a failed coup attempt.

Presidential spokesman Gervais Abayeho said President Pierre Nkurunziza on Monday fired Defense Minister Pontien Gaciyubenge, International Affairs Minister Laurent Kavakure and Trade Minister Marie Nizigiyimana.
