Ahmed, Mimiko, Obi congratulate The Sun, New Telegraphs over appointments

THE Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed has described the elevation of Mr Eric Osagie to the position of Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of the Sun Publishing Limited as a recognition and reward for excellence and hardwork.

In a congratulatory message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Abdulwahaab Oba, the governor said the elevation of Mr Osagie, Mr Steve Nwosu and Mrs Funke Egbemode to various higher positions of responsibility in both The Sun and the New Telegraph Newspapers demonstrate the invaluable contributions they made to the steady rise of the company, describing the three journalists as “professionals with panache and candour whose contributions to journalism are legendary”, adding that they are sources of inspiration to younger journalists.

Ahmed said he was optimistic that Osagie and Nwosu and Mrs. Egbemode’s contributions in their new positions would up the ante of the Sun and New Telegraph Newspapers as the authentic “Voices of the nation”.

Also, Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has congratulated the newly promoted Editorial members of the The Sun and New Telegraph newspapers, Eric Osagie, Steve Nwosu and Mrs. Funke Egbemode.

In the new appointments announced by the board of the publications occasioned by the appointment of the Managing Director of The Sun, Mr. Femi Adesina as the Special Adviser to President Muhammudu Buhari, consummate journalists, Mr. Eric Osagie and Mrs. Funke Egbemode were on Monday announced as the Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of The Sun and New Telegraph respectively.

Commending the appointments, which also saw Mr. Steve Nwosu emerged the Deputy Managing Director/Deputy Editor-in-Chief of The Sun, Mimiko said the appointees deserve their new roles, adding that their past records were enough attestation to the fact that they would make success of their new postings.

Mimiko said the choice of Mrs. Egbemode as the new head of The Sun’s sister publication, New Telegraph is perfect considering her antecedent, adding that “Egbemode had always done the womenfolk proud with her commitment and dedication,” which Mimiko said must have justified her new post along with “capable and thorough professionals like Osagie and Nwosu” Meanwhile, the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi has commended Mr. Femi Adeshina on his appointments.

He also commiserated with the victims of the petrol tanker fire at Upper Iweka on Sunday.He said it was saddening and agonising to witness or hear about Mimiko prayed that God should see the new appointees through their new assignment even as he urged them to be determined to surpass the records that fetched them the new appointments.
