Stakeholders in the aviation industry have stressed the need for airline operators to give due attention to air dispatchers to improve air safety in the country.

They lamented that the dispatchers who are often the go-between for the pilot and ground service personnel and maintain constant watch on all flight dispatched are often time not given due recognition by airline operators.

The Fleet Captain, Nigeria Airways and Presidential Air Fleet, Captain Data Tarfa who stated this during the launch of a book titled “Dispatch made easy” said it was high time government stop playing politics with the aviation sector if it must ensure safety in the skies.

He said the dispatcher is more or less like a pilot as they are responsible in joint agreement with the airline captain for flight planning, route and altitude selection, fuel load requirements, aircraft legality and complying with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
