The Taraba State chapter of the Ajadi Rescue Movement marked the 45th birthday of its national leader, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, with a charity visit to the Alheri Orphanage in Jalingo, despite persistent rainfall on Sunday.
Led by the Deputy State Coordinator, Muhammad Sani Babangida, who stood in for the State Coordinator, Comrade D.N. Muhammad, the delegation included the Auditor General, Northern Zone Coordinator, Public Relations Officer, Youth Leader, and Woman Leader. Together, they presented meals, refreshments, and a celebratory cake to children at the orphanage.
Babangida described the visit as a reflection of the leadership qualities of Ambassador Ajadi, whom he described as committed to community service and compassion. “True leadership is about service to humanity. This visit embodies the example set by Ambassador Ajadi, whose birthday we mark not with fanfare, but by remembering those less privileged,” he said.
The Director of Alheri Orphanage, Hajiya Ummu Ismail Gwaru, expressed appreciation for the gesture, commending the movement’s leader for what she called his consistent philanthropic work. “Ambassador Ajadi has shown a heart for the vulnerable, and I hope more leaders will learn from this example,” she said.
A symbolic birthday celebration followed, with the children joining in a birthday song and prayers for the celebrant, before sharing in the donated food and refreshments. Ten-year-old Halima, speaking on behalf of the children, offered a short speech wishing Ajadi long life and continued success.
Speaking further, Comrade Ibrahim Musa, the Public Relations Officer of the chapter, said the event was part of the movement’s broader humanitarian agenda. “This visit is not intended as a one-off. Our commitment is to sustained community outreach, particularly to support children, the elderly, and people living with disabilities,” he said.
Similar charity activities were reportedly held by other chapters of the Ajadi Rescue Movement in different parts of Nigeria as part of the wider effort to honour the 45th birthday of Ambassador Ajadi, a businessman and 2023 governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Ogun State.
The visit concluded with the children expressing gratitude, marking a brief but emotional respite in their daily lives, as supporters of Ajadi sought to underline their leader’s reputation for empathy and public service.
