Akinde urges Nigerians to shun negative criticisms

The Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of Lagos and Bishop of Lagos Mainland, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Revd. Adebayo Akinde has called on every wise Nigerian to contribute positively to the present administration in building a new Nigeria.

Specifically, he urged Nigerians to offer useful advice to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo and stop criticising the government.

The Cleric gave the admonition during the Trinity Ordination, which took place at the Diocese of Lagos Mainland, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

At the service where ordination of seven deacons and six priests took place, Akinde reminded Nigerians that Buhari and Osinbajo do not have monopoly of knowledge and therefore need encouragement and meaningful counsel.

He also told Nigerians that one year would not be enough to clear the have created.

“There is need to be patient with the present administration and it is important that Nigerians realise that the present predicament confronting the nation could be attributed to the inherited cumulative years of bad governance.

“Nigeria is a complex nation and what we can only do to assist those at the helm of affairs is to pray for them for God to give them wisdom and guidance to rule a nation like ours.

“Nigerians should stop passing the buck but rather be positive and hopeful for a better Nigeria as God helps the present administration to proffer necessary solution to the impasse.

“It is absolutely true that many people criticizing President Buhari would not be able to achieve what they have achieved so far, if found in their shoes,” he said.

Akinde reminded the newly ordained Priests and Deacons of the importance of walking closely with God who called them.

“You cannot know more than the God who called you and so you need him to execute every assignment He has for you. You are expected to walk with God, the owner of the Church and listen attentively to His directives.

“You will need the Spirit of perseverance while you get it right that it is non-negotiable to run God’s agenda in the course of your assignment and not your personal agenda,” he admonished the new priests and deacons.
