A former All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate in Ondo State, Dr. Paul Akintelure, has called for mutual understanding between the Federal Government and the governors of the southwest states in the move to boost security of life and property through the establishment of Amotekun.

Akintelure, who spoke to newsmen in Lagos on the establishment of the south-west security outfit, described Amotekun as a welcome development, but said “there must be proper understanding between the Federal Government and the affected states so as to avoid crisis by the time the security network takes practical effect.”

“The nation is in dire need of well secured environment for peaceful coexistence and economic development. Apart from the fact that safety of life and property is very crucial, every time we woo foreign investors, the environment must be made conducive for them to accept to bring their resources to invest in Nigeria. So the establishment of Amotekun by the southwest governors should not be swept under the carpet. The governors should ensure that the security outfit is established by law,” he said.

Akintelure urged Nigerians to rally support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s efforts at tackling insecurity and corruption and putting the country on the path of real development.

‘’Since the inception of this administration, corruption has been given a strong fight to the extent that some corrupt officials and private individuals have been nailed. Buhari has also promised to frontally tackle insecurity, provide 10 million jobs for the youths before the end of his tenure, and to conduct credible election come 2023. We, the governed, irrespective of political affiliation and religion, have a responsibility to support his agenda to transform the country for the betterment of all,” Akintelure pleaded.

He promised that if given the opportunity to serve come 2023 by his people, he would continue with the efforts of the current administration to enhance their well-being.
