Governor  Tanko Al-makura of Nasarawa State on Sunday called on Christians to spread the virtues of peace and love which underscored Christ’s mission on earth.

In a message on the occasion of Easter issued in Lafia, Al-makura called on Christians to use the occasion to pray fervently for an end to the numerous challenges confronting the nation

The statement, signed by the governor’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Ahmed Tukuri, said there was no better time to emulate Jesus Christ’s virtues than now because of the increasing intolerance in the country.

He urged the faithful to continue to co-habit peacefully with non-Christians to engender sustainable peace needed for growth and development of the nation.

Al-makura also implored political leaders to remain committed to promotion of their citizen’s welfare, irrespective of ethnic, religious or political affiliations.

The governor wished Christians joyful celebration and prayed for warmth of God’s love to fill every home during the Easter celebration.

Al-makura enjoined residents in the state to be their brothers’ keeper and reflect on the teachings of Jesus Christ that were the hallmark of his life.

He advised the people of the state to seize the opportunity of the Easter to reflect deeply on what they needed to do to ensure positive development of the state and the country as a whole. (NAN)
