A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Hakeem Alao, has berated Governor Seyi Makinde over comment that there would be no hiding place for members of the APC who looted the state’s funds.
In a statement yesterday by his media office, Alao said the comment coming from the governor was nothing but playing to the gallery.
Makinde, while featuring on a radio programme in Ibadan, had said his administration was after APC members in the state to retrieve every kobo of the state resources they stole.
However, Alao, in the statement, said the governor is living in a glass house and throwing stones.
He said it was under Makinde’s administration that the state’s accountant-general was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for corruption.
He added that the governor takes delight in fooling the people by playing holier, wondering why it is taking him close to three years to be running after the so-called looters of the state’s resources.
MEANWHILE, a former commissioner under Makinde, Prof. AbdurRahman Raphael Afonja, yesterday, urged support for the governor’s second term bid.
Afonja, who spoke at his first Ramadan lecture, held at the Soun Ogunlola Hall, Ogbomoso, hinged his reason on the governor’s monumental achievements recorded in all spheres of governance.
He said a lot had been achieved by Makinde through infrastructural development.
Chief Imam of Ogbomosho, Imam Taliat Yunus Ayilara, who led the lecture programme, admonished the people of the ancient town to ensure that they pray fervently for peace to reign in the town to ensure that the installation of new Soun does not cause chaos and disharmony.
He, therefore, urged Makinde to ensure fairness and justice in the selection process.
