Alia places N10m bounty on attackers of Benue Representative
Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has placed N10 million bounty on attackers of House of Representatives member for Katsina-Ala/Ukum/Logo federal constituency, Solomon Wombo.
The federal lawmaker narrowly escaped assassination, on Saturday night, when gunmen gained entrance into his Makurdi residence. He had left the house a few hours earlier.
Condemning the attack, yesterday, in Makurdi, Alia said his government would offer M10 million to “anyone that will give useful information that will lead to the arrest of the attackers.”
The Guardian learnt that around 11.30 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024, four armed men forcefully broke into the Makurdi residence of Wombo, by cutting the concertina wires on his perimeter fencing.
The noise reportedly alerted the housekeeper, who rushed out, only to be accosted by the armed men, who had already gained access to the compound.
The gang was said to have ordered him to take them to his master’s room. When he told them that his master had gone back to Abuja a few hours earlier, they doubted and pounced on him.
The housekeeper, who was given a thorough beating, is still receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital in Makurdi.
