Aliyu commits to welfare, reintegration of displaced persons

Inspects IDPs housing project 

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and reintegration of displaced persons across the state. He disclosed this during the inspection of the ongoing construction of 100 housing units for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Illela Local Council of the state.
 
The project is jointly funded by the state government and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).Aliyu, during the inspection, expressed satisfaction with the quality of work at the site and commended the contractor for adhering to standards and timelines.
 
“I am impressed with the quality of work and the progress made by the contractor. I urge other contractors handling government projects to emulate this level of commitment and professionalism.
 
“I want to assure our internally displaced brothers and sisters that we are fully committed to protecting their dignity,” he said.  The governor, according to a statement, yesterday, by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Sokoto, Abubakar Bawa, highlighted the state government’s ongoing efforts to mitigate flooding, which he identified as one of the major causes of displacement in the region.
 
He reiterated the administration’s resolve to protect all government investments and infrastructure across the state.  Aliyu emphasised that his government is working tirelessly to strengthen security, particularly in rural communities, and called on citizens to continue supporting government’s efforts to build a safer and more resilient Sokoto.  He thanked the people of the state for their continuous support to his administration.
 
The governor was accompanied on the visit by the All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in the state, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko; Speaker, Sokoto State House of Assembly, Tukur Bala Bodinga; former Deputy Governor, Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo, members of the National and State Assembles, State APC Chairman, Isa Saddiq Achida; commissioners, special advisers and senior special assistants, among others.
