Mazi Chima Matthew Amadi has pledged to restore public institutions, revive critical sectors, and create employment opportunities for youths in Imo State.
He made the commitment while addressing women at various church-hosted August Meeting gatherings in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area.
Amadi, who leads The Mazi Organisation, visited St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ubomiri, the Methodist Church of Nigeria on MCC Road in Owerri, and Trinity Anglican Church in Obazu Mbieri.
He used the platform to criticise the handling of governance in Imo State, describing previous administrations as having failed to address poverty, infrastructure decay, and insecurity.
“Mothers are the primary victims of bad governance. Their concerns must be at the centre of any serious agenda for Imo,” Amadi said.
He called for the support of women and religious institutions to advocate for credible leadership in the state.
At each stop, Amadi made financial contributions to support local development projects. He donated ₦3 million to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, ₦10 million to the Methodist Church, along with an additional ₦3 million to the church’s women’s fellowship, and ₦3 million to Trinity Anglican Church.
Amadi emphasised his plan to revive moribund industries, restore confidence in public schools and healthcare services, and prioritise security.
He expressed concern about the calibre of leadership in the state, stating that “the time has come to end the reign of people with little or no education in public office.”
The Methodist Church of Nigeria offered its backing through a goodwill message delivered by the Cathedral Administrator, Very Rev. Chikaodiri Eke, who represented the Bishop of the Owerri Archdiocese. The Bishop’s wife, Ezinne Deaconess Mercy U. Kanu, also voiced support, assuring Amadi of continued prayers from the church’s women.
Despite rainfall in Obazu Mbieri, large numbers of women gathered to hear Amadi’s message. He was accompanied by several political associates, including Chief Henry Onwukwe, Rt. Hon. Ugonna Ozurigbo, Hon. Uche Ogbuagu, and other members of The Mazi Organisation.
