The arrival of the remains marks the final stage in the nation’s farewell to Buhari, who died on Sunday in a London hospital after a long illness.
Also arriving in Katsina earlier was the 25-member Presidential Committee set up by President Bola Tinubu to plan Buhari’s state burial.
The committee, chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, is working closely with the Katsina State Government and the Buhari family to ensure the funeral is conducted in a dignified and orderly manner.
Meanwhile, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, left Abuja and is en route to Daura to attend the burial ceremony.
Buhari served as military head of state from 1983 to 1985 and later as an elected president from 2015 to 2023.
