LAGOS State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, yesterday hit the ground running with the creation of Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment.

The governor, in his inaugural speech on Friday, said the ministry was in line with his campaign promises and to specifically execute his planned employment trust fund, labour exchange and entrepreneurship drive for Lagosians.

Also created are the Offices of Civic Engagement and Overseas Affairs and Investment (LAGOS GLOBAL), both under the Deputy Governor’s Office.

He said the offices were to strengthen and enhance their promise on government of inclusion and promote international investment in the state.

Ambode, in a statement he signed, named Mr. Tunji Bello as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Mr. Samuel Olukunle Ojo as the Chief of Staff.

The statement further said Mr. Abiodun Bamgboye has been appointed Principal Private Secretary, while Mr. Habib Adamson Aruna was appointed the Chief Press Secretary (CPS), all with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, the governor’s formal Inauguration and Swearing-In Ceremony yesterday held at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) ground, some 45 minutes behind schedule.

The delay in the well-attended event was caused by late arrival of dignitaries.

The new governor, Ambode and his wife both arrived at 10:10am, against 9:50 scheduled in the programme of event.
