Amu, Somolu launch book on power sector

FORMER Manager of Operations in charge of Niger Dams Authority (NDA) Lawrence Amu, an engineer and former president of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Foluseke Somolu, also an engineer have co-authored a book titled: “The Development of The Nigerian Electric Power System 1973-1990” which was launched yesterday at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Lagos.

Speaking about the book, one of the presenters who is also the Principal Partner Shonubi Mek-Ind Associates, FA Shonubi, said the authors were trying to remind Nigerians about the importance of quality. “Quality is never an accident, it about diligent, good planning and execution.

This is a competitive world. Every customer wants quality. If we are going to be competitive in the global world, we must make quality our watchword.”

He also said there was another message that “it is never too late. “If you missed the road , but if you can retrace your path back to where you missed the road, you can start from there. It is a challenge for the people of the coming generation.

Quality doesn’t come cheap , but it pays,” he said. Other people who attended the event include the Chief Operating Officer (C0O) of The Guardian, Dr Alex Thomopulos. the book reviewer Bashorun Jaiye Randle , Chairman Sahara Power Company, Kola Adesina, Chairman of the occasion, Prof. Oye Ibidapo- Obe among others.
