Anambra election: INEC opens portal to recruit Ad-hoc staff

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened an online portal to recruit temporary staff for the November governorship election in Anambra state, officials said Monday.

INEC said applications for positions including supervisory presiding officers, presiding officers, assistant presiding officers, registration area technicians and centre managers would be accepted until 5 October.

The recruitment portal, known as INECPRES, is accessible via pres.inecnigeria.org or the INEC mobile app.

According to the commission, eligible candidates include civil servants on grade levels 10 to 14 for supervisory posts, former members of the National Youth Service Corps from 2022 to 2025 or federal staff on levels 7 to 10 for presiding roles, and school heads or senior staff for centre management positions. Registration area technicians are drawn from INEC’s own ICT staff.

Applicants are required to be resident in Anambra and must not hold political affiliations, except for ICT staff who may be deployed from outside the state.

The election is scheduled for 8, November, with campaigning allowed until midnight on 6 November, INEC said.

The commission has stepped up preparations after a recent voter registration exercise added more than 140,000 names to the rolls, bringing the electorate to about 2.8 million. Training workshops and security briefings have also been conducted for staff and stakeholders.

Sixteen candidates are contesting the governorship in what is expected to be a closely watched poll.

Enquiries on the recruitment process can be made via 0917655926, 08059635879 or [email protected]] (mailto:[email protected]), the commission added.
